Earn a Graduate Certificate in Digital Design + Fabrication at Ball State University:
CONNECT+MAKE 3-week Summer Workshop
CONNECT+MAKE Summer Workshop invites students and professionals from a variety of backgrounds who wish to enhance their skill sets with the latest digital design and fabrication tools while earning a Graduate Certificate in a short, but intense, three weeks in July. The program focuses on applying computational tools within a material-based “design-through-production process” that is informed by experimenting, testing, and prototyping.
Participants will undergo software training with Rhino digital modeling, Grasshopper parametric modeling, and RhinoScript procedural modeling. Additionally, workshop participants will have full access to labs and training with fabrication equipment (such as laser cutters, CNC routers, and a 3D printer) to perform material experimentations and prototyping for collaborative projects. The workshop will be conducted by faculty and staff from Ball State’s Institute for Digital Fabrication (i.M.A.D.E) in an immersive, collaborative, applied environment with industry involvement. No prerequisite skills in digital design or fabrication are required.
At the end of three weeks, participants will earn 12 graduate course credit hours and a Graduate Certificate from Ball State University’s Department of Architecture, a program cited for excellence in Digital Design and Fabrication in Architect Magazine’s most recent U.S. architecture schools survey. The costs of the workshop cover tuition, meals, lodging, ground transportation between campus and the airport, and a project budget for materials and tooling.
