Post Specification The School is committed to discovery and design as the primary mode of work and teaching, and focuses on study and advancement of architecture in all its scales and scope. It works as a community of students, teachers, visiting designers and architects, support staff and assistants, and other colleagues dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the advancement of architecture and self-education. It draws upon a rich source of cognate departments in the University, other professional communities in Hong Kong, and associated universities in China and overseas. The School is recruiting for a post for undertaking teaching, research and curriculum development in architecture with focus in one of the following areas: digital design, sustainable design, structure and construction, or landscape architecture.

Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in digital design/sustainable design/structure and construction/landscape architecture, preferably with professional education in architecture or landscape architecture OR a professional Master degree in architecture or landscape architecture plus a professional registration and at least four years’ post-qualification practical, teaching and/or research experience mostly in digital design/sustainable design/structure and construction/landscape architecture (or at least six years’ post-qualification practical, teaching and/or research experience if not holding a professional registration); (ii) demonstrated original and outstanding achievement in architectural and/or digital design/sustainable design/structure and construction/landscape architecture (as supported by evidence of design or research projects and outputs); and (iii) a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research. Consideration will only be given to those who have substantial experience in design, research and/or teaching.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially commencing August 2011, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.

Monthly Salary and Fringe Benefits Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical care, plus a contract-end gratuity for an appointment of two years or longer and housing benefits for eligible appointee.
