Post Specification
The School is committed to discovery and design as the primary mode of work and teaching, and focuses on study and advancement of architecture in all its scales and scope. It works as a community of students, teachers, visiting designers and architects, support staff and assistants, and other colleagues dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the advancement of architecture and self-education. It draws upon a rich source of cognate departments in the University, other professional communities in Hong Kong, and associated universities in China and overseas. Applicants should have

(i) a PhD degree in architecture and/or urban design, OR a professional Master degree in architecture plus professional registration and at least four years’ post-qualification practical or teaching experience (or at least six years’ post-qualification practical or teaching experience if not holding a professional registration); (ii) demonstrated original and outstanding achievement in architectural and urban design (as supported by evidence of design or research projects and outputs); and (iii) a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research. The appointee will undertake teaching, research and curriculum development in architectural design with focus on urban design and planning. Preference will be given to those who have substantial experience in design, research and/or teaching.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially commencing December 2010, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.


Monthly Salary and Fringe Benefits

Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical care, plus a contract-end gratuity for an appointment of two years or longer and housing benefits for eligible appointee.
