The Joint Master of Science Program in Computational Design and Fabrication Technologies in Architecture is approaching its third year. This MSc program is jointly offered by the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and the Department of Architecture at Middle East Technical University (METU) and offers its students a double Master of Science degree (from METU and TU Delft).
The program focuses on computational design and fabrication technologies in the field of architecture with the goal of teaching cutting-edge design technologies and new design tools as well as new design paradigms in architecture. Students are expected to be fully adequate in research and have a background to follow up new design technologies and to enrich research and design in the field of architecture.
The double degree program is a two-year (four semesters) program. The first and last semester are offered by the Department of Architecture at METU and the second and third semester are offered by the Faculty of Architecture at TU Delft. Participants will join with students from METU and TU Delft in exploring computational design and research in two studio projects and a graduation design project and research thesis.
Applications for the program starting in September 2010 will need to be submitted in May of 2010 to the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences at METU. However, expressions of interest and pre-applications are already welcome at the website of the program: http://www.metudelft.net/comparch/. If you pre-apply before April 1st, we will pre-assess your application and inform you of the (pre-)admission decision before June 1st, that is, before the final admission deadline early June. Based on your expression of interest, we can also give you personal feedback and support you with your application process, considering your specific situation.
If you’re interested in the Joint Master of Science Program, please visit the website at http://www.metudelft.net/comparch/ and check out examples of student work from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd semester of the program, as well as other information about the program and its courses.
